Here we go again

If this escalates to an addiction, I’m blaming Steve.

I’ve seen them around of course. Admired them even. You know, those photos of handwritten calligraphy all over Instagram. Most like to write out inspirational phrases, some lyrics. A few here and there have a little bit more edge. And like them I did, but the admiration was, to say the least, superficial–I appreciated the nostalgic feel, but nothing more than that.

Then I read Steve Jobs’ biography (by Walter Isaacson) a few weeks ago, and though it seems cliche and, well, a bit BS,  in very subtle ways it truly changed the way I see and do things: gained a deeper understanding of form language and design, and a slightly sharper eye for what makes things beautiful. And then I came across this tidbit:

LATE POST: The 26th VW Classic and Custom Car Show

K’s band, Radiostation, was invited to play during the 26th VW Classic and Custom Car Show, held a few weeks ago at the Fort Bonifacio Naval Grounds. It was the first time we attended a car show, and though the rain kinda dampened our spirits at first, seeing the classically beautiful vintage cars on display truly cheered us up. I didn’t even mind sloshing through the water to take photos! The cars were really gorgeous. (more…)

There’s something really exciting with shooting in film. Digital cameras are crisper and sharper, and of course, more convenient. But using it just doesn’t have the same kind of thrill. With digital cameras, all the work is done for you. As long as you know how to operate your camera, chances are, you can get a decent enough photo most of the time. Must be why most people who can afford a decent camera fancy themselves as photographers, but IMO, it takes a lot more than that. (more…)
